Although my partner uses TripAdvisor a lot when organising holidays, on the few occasions I've taken time to write a review, one way or another their overly cautious, poorly-implemented processes intended to preserve the quality of their reviews get in the way. At present we're touring Morocco, and after one exceptional stay in a riad I decided to write a review. TripAdvisor emailed (see screen shot to verify this) to tell me my review was rejected. "After reviewing it, we wanted to let you know that it does not comply with our guidelines, as it seems to have been created using artificial intelligence or automated tools." They go on to invite me to "copy and paste the text of your original review into this form, make your edits and click submit." What can I do when there is no AI-generated text to remove? I've never used AI in any shape or form, I'm perfectly happy with the adequacy of my own brain. This can only be because I'm older, and was very well (grammar school) educated, in the days when writing good English prose was an essential skill to master. I'm sure poorly written, badly punctuated English would be fine for them, but I'm not going to stoop to their level just because they can't get their tools right. They must recognise that no tool scanning for AI-generated content is going to be free of false positives - but their only recourse to an appeal is if you live in the EU, for they claim "regulatory reasons". As in, it's only the EU that is trying to hold this giant, uncaring corporate responsible? I'm not going to waste any more time on them, and will post reviews on booking.com (or similar, however our accommodation was booked) or Google.
